Lost Dutchman Marathon 2019
We think Lost Dutchman Marathon is a terrific event, but don't just take our word for it. Every year we get lots of positive feedback. See what runners from around the country have had to say about our race.
Beautiful course and good support along the route!
Loved this race! Interesting course, great support despite the small marathon field.
I am a Canadian snowbird and have had an opportunity to take in 11 races this winter. I have also completed many other events in Arizona in the past. This was by far my favorite event. The race t-shirt was excellent, the volunteers superb, the overall organization from parking to transportation outstanding, and the medals and awards were very unique. I would highly recommend the half marathon as the scenery on that first mile was incredible! I hope to participate in this event again next year. Kudos to the organizing committee on putting on such an excellent event. This is great value based on the entry fee.
Beautiful scenery, easy parking, and hills that I actually enjoyed running! Lost Dutchman is a great, low-key event.
A great race and amazing scenery! Keep up the great work! Everyone I came into contact were so friendly and helpful. I will run this next year for sure.
Great time! My first 10K of the year was so much fun! Running in the desert in very cool!
Awesome race, first time marathon runners and I feel like I picked the best race. I think that the event was awesome, can't say enough good about it.
Overall, a very nice event.
I love this race! I have ran in races all around the country and this is one of the most well organized and scenic race I've been in! (And it's in my backyard!!!!) The size of the race is perfect for you to run your best race.
Love this race, rain or shine! Well organized, friendly atmosphere, beautiful course and medals!
Love this race series! So very organized!
Such a well organized race!
A very beautiful race coarse.
I enjoyed the 8k with flat ground, sand and rock below my feet. The sunrise through cactus was magical.
I enjoy this race because of the view of the Superstition Mountains as I run east for the 10K.
Fabulous trail run
The rolling hills and scenic route allow you to dream of the Dutchman's gold while your running. Great race that has grown in population over the 11 years I've done it but still has a "small-town" feel.
I've always enjoyed this race. It is well-managed and the volunteers are friendly and helpful. It looks like everyone enjoys working the races and it looks like all the participants also enjoy themselves.
Unique start with pre-dawn campfires and quiet first 6 miles as sun rises over the mountains.
Fabulous race; I highly recommend it!
Great race, well managed.
Great Race as always love the views and organized very well! See ya next year ????
I came down from the state of Iowa. It was one of the well run races I have attended. All of the volunteers made the run seem easy (if that's possible). Would recommend this race to anyone! The dirt roads for the first 6 miles were easy on the legs and beautiful.
I think this was the most beautiful full marathon I will ever do! I grinned the first 6 miles because everything was just that gorgeous: all soft sunrise colors against desert brush and saguaros with golden superstition mountain as the backdrop. At one point I saw this majestic giant hawk perching on a cactus! The race was really well organized, fairly flat, and the weather couldn't have been better. I got a new PR! A truly magical experience!
I did the half marathon and LOVED having the pacers!
I did the Lost Dutchman Half-Marathon for my first half-marathon ever and loved it! The views, course, volunteers, medals, and post-race hospitality were amazing and made for a fun experience.
Gorgeous setting, awesome staff and volunteers! Thank you, from an actual Dutchman!
Love the view while running. Inspirational and love to watch others running and making new friends.
I have participated in the 8K trail race for the past 4 years. I love the course (not too tough) and how accommodating it is to both runners and walkers. The volunteers are so nice. I have already registered for next year!
One of the best races in Arizona! I'm so glad I was able to run again this year...I look forward to next year:)
Great race and atmosphere. Well organized. Beautiful start!
I have been wanting to run this race for years and finally! The folks at packet pickup were friendly and helpful with a very simple & fast two-step process. Race day was a chilly 41 degrees with little to no wind, thankfully. The 8k trail was fun with some very small rolling hills, running on asphalt, grass, hard ground and sand. I took one of my favorite pics of the sun behind clouds, desert and the Sups in the background. AJ is truly beautiful! Post-race snacks - banana, oranges, chips and bagel. Thanks for a great first experience!
Well organized - Everyone extremely friendly
Well organized and super fun running events provide Northerners a chance to leave the cold weather behind. Perfect weekend getaway!
Very well organized and beautiful!
I only do races once. I didn't want the first 6 miles to end. Peaceful and beautiful. The cheering folks at mile 16-17 were great, firemen laughed at our jokes, girls at mile 20 still had energy to cheer for even the late runners. You kept support out and not cleaning up for the later people. High school band kids were interactive with runners. A little music at the finish would be nice for a celebration or fun atmosphere. Loved Wanda and burro and miner. Good celebration photos with them. Campfires were kept stoked and volunteers were gracious. Chatting with other runners at the start was encouraged by volunteers. Number of potties at the start and along the marathon was perfect. Liked that you had charity receivers manning the water stations.
Great race, great crowd
Special thanks to Jill and staff for waiting to close the marathon as I went over about 18 minutes of cut-off time. I wanted to finish for my 85th marathon. Maybe we could have early starts in the future for us slow & older folks. Thanks again.
One of the most beautiful races in Arizona!
Amazingly well organized event with beautiful scenery
This was a great, Well Organized Event...
Third time at this race(including once with heavy rain)-one of the most well organized I've ever participated in
Very Nice Event! Well Done!
Superbly organized in every aspect! More than enough water and aid stations. Great post-race snacks. Beautiful medals.
Scenery was fantastic. Support was great!
Thanks so much to Larry and your team for putting on such a fun and well organized event! From the pre-dawn mesquite fires to the mid-marathon bacon station, this was a really enjoyable and well organized event. Thanks so much!
The Lost Dutchman Marathon is one of my favorite races in Arizona. I always look forward to taking in the scenic course each time I run this race. It's one of my top five races to run every year.
Probably my most unique start line experience!! Resting by the campfires and watching the sun rise over the desert landscape was a remarkable way to start the day.
Thanks for still having a mail in entry. I don't think people should have to pay an extra fee just to enter a race.
Great race and well supported.
This is an awesome run! The best scenery and is very well organized.
Always a fun time kicking up dirt!! Volunteers Rock!!!
It was a great run, and the crowd was awesome!
Extremely well organized race!
Great course, great people, great race!
The course is beautiful. Everything is so easy from parking to finish.
Love this run!
You guys were AMAZING!
I ran the 8K trail run and was thoroughly impressed with how well-organized and FUN it was!
This was my first 8k trail race and I would say it was a good one to do for a beginner. The course would go in and out of a few washes but otherwise flat course with Superstition Mountains as your back drop.
Extremely Runner friendly
Such a beautiful run getting to enjoy the scenery of Arizona!
This is my first LDM and the view was gorgeous. Volunteers were awesome.
Excellent race. Love the buses and how they are run from the rodeo grounds to prospectors park.
This race is very well organized. I have participated for over five years and it's my favorite event. Such beautiful scenery, I always look forward to it.
Well organized run with beautiful scenery.
Beautiful venue, well organized, an enjoyable destination event with other local attractions.
Great race. Good support
Great race, always organized and no problems
Awesome Marathon, both for the scenery and the support along the route!
Well organized run with great views. Truly enjoyed it!
My favorite event year after year, well organized and so much fun. I will be back for my 9th consecutive year!
Excellent organization! The detailed email before the race events was extremely helpful for any new comers to the race and the medals are beautiful for an added bonus!
Fantastic race, great volunteers. Well done every year
Great, great preparation with fires and mats and coffee and snacks at the beginning; very cold start - my hands froze! Wish that I had worn gloves (or extra socks on my hands). The support along the race more than adequate with bananas, gels, water, gatorade. Remarkable.
Enjoy it ever year. Well organized. Volunteers all very helpful. Liked the "race bunnies" and the music at finish line.
What a great race! I loved the start with the fires. I loved the people who organized and care about this race. I loved the course. Very nice.
Very well organized and very helpful volunteers.
Very organized event. A lot of fun.
Great race. Volunteer support was awesome and views were beautiful! Water at mile 3 was energetic and Girl Scout stop was super supportive
This could not have been better ---- the 8K course was beautiful and plenty of volunteers ensured that no one was going to get lost in the Superstitions. Award ceremony was also very nice, and the food was just perfect. Kudos to the organizers and the volunteers. I'll be back, knees willing, next year.
This is an awesome race! Second time running it and I loved it just as much as last year. Perfect weather and stunning scenery!
Great experience. Great volunteers, great race. I plan on doing it again next year
Wonderfully organized race, great expo, super efficient!
scenic course, well organized.
Amazing, well organized, efficient race that runs so smoothly! Love it!
It was a fun run for sure!
This is an amazing race. Beautiful scenery, weather, and very well organized.
My favorite race every year
A beautiful but very challenging race.i did PR. The race was well organized except for the porta pots. I would have been nice to have 2 instead of one. Had to wait to use one twice which added to my overall finish time.
This was my first marathon and it was absolutely breathtaking. The views and the volunteers working there made this experience one of the best in my life!!
Love love love their small very well organized races! The beautiful surrounding of the majestic Superstition Mountains make it all worthwhile to run any of their races! Have run a few 13.1, 8K trail, my first marathon a few years ago and am coming back next year to run another 26.2. Everything from the shuttle buses, awesome medals, awards and volunteers from the start to the finishline makes this small community run event GREAT for all ages!
Amazing race! Beautiful scenery, great energy and very well run!
Best scenery at the start of the race with the sun rising over the mountains
This race is a really well organized and run, and I loved the course!!!
One of my favorite races in Arizona!
Fantastic race! Course and volunteers make this race a must do every year for our family!
Very nice race, fun good people.
My first EVER 10k, nice scenery, I had so much fun!!
I have run this race for many years & have always enjoyed it. I absolutely love the beautiful medals that they give you.
Nice Race Nice Day Well Organized
Well-organized race, good parking arrangement, school bus shuttle to start was perfect. Lots of water, Gatorade, and even GU packs on route. Will be back!
One of the best events in Arizona
No doubt the most beautiful race in all of Arizona.
Great race and superb organization!
I have completed several races in various states and this is one of my favorites!
Very Safe - Well organized - Friendly runners - Walkers are made to feel welcome
I am not sure how you could improve it. The course was beautiful, the start was the best ever, support along the way could not have been better. My age group award was truly classy looking. Most helpful, friendly volunteers possible. My experience was excellent despite my up and down training due to breaking my hand in January.
Great race, well organized overall. Buses were efficient, warming fires were brilliant as was coffee/hot cocoa/snacks offerings at start. Water/fuel stops were excellent in their frequency and content and the volunteers were great.
