Lost Dutchman Marathon 2018
We think Lost Dutchman Marathon is a terrific event, but don't just take our word for it. Every year we get lots of positive feedback. See what runners from around the country have had to say about our race.

Great race! Scenic, well organized, well supported, and super friendly volunteers!
This was my first ever marathon and I'm hooked for life! From the pre-dawn campsite to the well organized teams of volunteers, this event delivered in a big way. I'll be back!
This race was put together so well! I enjoyed every minute of it and loved the amount of volunteers there. Having aid stations every other mile was so helpful and the route was clearly marked and had awesome people cheering all of the runners on! I love that everyone got a finishers medal with real time updates to family members. There were food, coffee and physical therapy vendors there to take care of you before and after the race. Overall, a great race and I will be coming back again next year for the half marathon!
Beautiful setting, beautiful weather, beautiful cause to run for - giving back to the local community!
Awesome race! Very well organized.
This is my 4th/5th time to do this race. I have walked it every time and have enjoyed it every time. This event is truly an event for everyone with the multiple race venues and the support from everyone "even for the walkers". I am going to train to do a 10K race/walk in honor of my 75th year next year! See you there!!
Marathon #22 for me. Race organization and support #1, without a doubt!
This is a great, small race with super supportive volunteers, awesome medals, and unique campfires at the start.
I love this race! It runs smoothly from registration all the way through to the finish line festivities. Please don't change a thing! See you next year!
Awesome race, scenery was beautiful, race staff very professional.
A local race to supported by locals! Thank you for the great support & scenery! Can't beat it!
The marathon is well organized, well marked and has wonderful volunteers. The best part though is how beautiful the start of the race is.
Had a great time! Will be back next year. Thank You!
55th Birthday, 1st Marathon. Great Fun and Well Organized
My second time at the half! A very well-organized event.
Best organized race that I ever been too! Was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I came. Will be back next year!
Wonderful event! This half marathon is fun, the scenery is glorious, ALL the many volunteers - WOW- and it is one of the best organized races I've participated in.
This race is so worth your day
Beautiful sunrises
Great race, beautiful destination and well run
2018 Lost Dutchman Marathon went without a Hitch! Great job!
Great race, views, shirts and bling.
Dear Grady, It's not very often that I am involved in an event that makes me feel compelled to reach out to the organizers, but this week end was the exception.
I am a first time participant in any race and I ran in the 8k. I was extremely impressed by every aspect of the Lost Dutchman Marathon. From the extremely friendly and helpful volunteer staff, to the well oiled race machinery and the beautiful and quality medals that were given out.
For me it wasn't about the race. I haven't run since high school/college track but my husband and I do long distance hiking where we hike 20 to over 30 miles in a day at elevation with a back pack. We have hiked the Pacific Crest Trail twice now, all 2600 miles in one season. So I don't really have anything to prove for my self.
No, for me it was about running this 8k side by side with my friend Lynne. Lynne has Multiple Sclerosis or MS. But she determined to run this race because she doesn't want her illness to define her. We both live in the area so we met at Prospector Park several times and laid out our own 5 mile course to be sure she could do it. She uses trekking poles to help keep herself upright. As her muscles start to tire, she depends on them more and more. And sometimes I have to step in and re balance her a bit.
This local running community is so friendly and so supportive! By the time Lynne and I hit the finish line she was having trouble staying upright. Her right leg was curved in even though she wears a special brace. But that's when I started to see and hear it. The crowd along the sides of the finish line were looking her in the eye and clapping just for her, and saying way to go! You did it! Some of them even read her name on the bib and personalized their congratulations.
To say that I was impressed and heart warmed by this out flowing of support would be a severe understatement. This 8k race will always hold a very special place in my heart because my friend Lynne believed in herself and she met her goal and because of kindness of others as she did so. Thank you Grady for all your efforts and hard work. You never know how many people will be touched by their experience in the Lost Dutchman Marathon.
God bless, Sandra Tyler
I loved the race. Ran the marathon and everything was good. Friendly volunteers at the water stops. Everyone was very helpful. I enjoyed the event.
Great race! It was worth the trip from Chicago!
Hi Grady - I just wanted to say THANK YOU! The race was fantastic! My friend Natalie and I ran the full. The organization for this race was top notch. From the bus driver, to the friendly gentleman who was tending our fire, to all the volunteers along the course, the many aid stops, the cold towels!, and the great medal and chance to take a photo with the Lost Dutchman, this race was excellent! I am so glad the weather cooperated. And, of course, the scenery was spectacular!
All
Very well organized.
What an amazing experience! From the start to the scenery to the volunteers along the route, I had a once-in-a-lifetime memory. The "wall" at mile 24 gave me a goal when the running was really getting tough. Thank you for all of the work to make the LDM happen!
I like that you had many toilets available.
Not an easy half marathon but I'd do it again.
Great race for my first marathon!
First 10k, was a great experience
My favorite race!
This was both my daughter and my first half and we are SO glad that we chose this one! From the minute we showed up to packet pickup to the finish line everything was great! It felt like everyone was glad we were there and wanted our experience to be great. One of my favorite things was all the wonderful faces every single mile marker along the route. From the marching band to kids passing out orange slices, to the encouraging signs posted along the way it all felt like a huge celebration! The weather was perfect and the scenery can't be beat. Thanks to everyone who made our first half a wonderful experience!
Once again you get a gold star on this entire event! We ran the 8k, great support and volunteers, can't wait for next year.
A well-organized event with wonderful volunteers. And, better yet, run entirely by a non-profit that puts your money to good work in the community.
This was my 4th half marathon. What draws me back is the community feel to the race. Begins with the packet pick up at the expo in Apache Junction. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. This year the pre race setting the morning of the race was fantastic. Great to coffee and food trucks . The area was clean and watching the sunrise over the Superstitious mtns...well you can't compete with that. Having water and porta potties every mile is so great. The smiles and encouragement from the volunteers to the neighbors is the best!!!! Love this race and each year it gets better.
Well organized with plenty of friendly volunteers. Had a fantastic time doing the 8K trail run. The perfect weather was icing on the cake.
Always a great race- From communication throughout the year to the seamless packet pick up at the Expo. The volunteers are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Love, Love, love this race!
This is the first time I ran the LDM- I did the 8K Trail run and it was great- Great directional arrows and the volunteers were great. It was a great trail and will definitely do it again next year
Fantastic event. Starts with on line registration, expo, packet pickup, event, course design, volunteers, officers, awards and refreshments. Great job everyone. Now getting ready for 2019
Fun race that is well organized. Course is easy to follow and plenty of support. One I would for sure do again!
This race is well organized down to the perfect timing of race event start times. It has run smoothly every year I have participated. I never feel like there is a lull in the excitement or that it is being rushed. Amazing job everyone!
This race was very organized and well run. I love that it was small. Easy in and out of parking, short lines for post race buffet and lack of congestion at the start line. Of course the scenery was awesome!!
This race was well organized and so much fun! The volunteers and other runners were super friendly and encouraging along the way. The Lost Dutchman Marathon is like a well run machine...not one detail was missed. Great job and thank you for a race to remember!
Enjoyed the half marathon. Nice course, well organized, good support.
One of the best half marathon races, it starts on time and very well organized, it's why I returned for my 6th time this year. Thank you LDM organizers.
A wonderful race from start to finish
It was my first half marathon and I had a great time running it. It was organized very nicely, frequent aid centers really helped in the run.
