Accessibility Statement
The Lost Dutchman Marathon wants its website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.
Our commitment
This website partially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard widely referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act. "Partially conforms" means some content does not yet fully meet the standard; we are actively working toward full conformance.
Measures we take
- A "Skip to main content" link and a page language set for assistive technology.
- Labels on form fields, including the newsletter and contact forms.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative graphics hidden from screen readers.
- ARIA roles on tabbed and interactive components.
- Attention to color contrast, keyboard operability, and visible focus.
- Re-checking accessibility when we make significant changes.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known items under remediation:
- Some informative images (for example certain course maps and sponsor logos) may still need improved text alternatives.
- The hero background video and the countdown timer are being reviewed for full assistive-technology support.
- The optional AI chat assistant is a third-party tool; if it does not work for you, please contact us and we will help directly.
We welcome reports of any barrier you encounter so we can fix it.
A note on accessibility overlays
This site does not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Such tools are supplemental at best and are not a substitute for building the site to conform with WCAG.
