About the Race

Held annually over MLK Day weekend in Apache Junction, Arizona, the 10K features a fast, flat out-and-back course over the last 3.1 miles of the Marathon route. Starting and finishing at Prospector Park, runners enjoy stunning views of the Superstition Mountains.

The race starts at 8:00 a.m. The course is all on pavement with broad freshly graded shoulders if you prefer to run on dirt. Registration includes chip timing via Race Roster, and athletes receive a commemorative medal at the finish.

Race day registration is available at Prospector Park, space permitting.

A fast, flat out-and-back course over the last 3.1 miles of the Marathon route, starting and finishing at Prospector Park.

Start: Prospector Park

8:00 AM

The 10K begins at Prospector Park near downtown Apache Junction. Head out on the final portion of the Marathon course with views of the stunning Superstition Mountains.

Miles 1–3: Outbound

SLIGHT INCLINE

The course is all on pavement with broad freshly graded shoulders if you prefer to run on dirt. Enjoy a slight incline as you head toward the turnaround point.

Miles 3–6.2: Return & Finish

FINISH LINE

After the turnaround, enjoy a slight decline back to the finish line. Be courteous to half marathoners who may be approaching from behind on the shared return lane.

Good to Know

No Time Limit: The 10K has no official cutoff time — run or walk at your own pace!
Chip Timing: Your timing chip is integrated into your bib — do not remove it.

Drop Bags

Your goodie bag IS your race drop bag. Mark it clearly with your bib number. Drop area is at the basketball courts near Prospector Park. The 10K starts and finishes at Prospector Park, so your bag will be nearby after you finish. Do not leave valuables in your drop bag.

Awards & Medals

Every finisher receives a commemorative medal, with awards for top performers in all age groups.

Finisher Medal

All 10K finishers receive a beautiful 2½" commemorative medal. Custom-designed with the iconic Superstition Mountains theme — unique design each year!

Age Group Awards

Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group.
